- Minister vows to revitalise tourism
Tourism authorities have pledged to remove more barriers and improve the tourism business climate next year in a bid to attract more investment from within Laos and from foreign countries.Laos has huge potential to generate more income from tourism due to the country’s natural beauty and historical and cultural places of interest, officials say.

- May inflation rate hits highest level in 18 years
The inflation rate in Laos climbed to its highest level in 18 years last month, with prices rising by 12.8 percent from a year ago, according to the latest report from the Lao Statistics Bureau. The fuel crisis, with petrol stations across the country running dry, and the continuing depreciation of the kip are among the main factors driving inflation.
