It’s bon appetit at Le Vendome 2, Laos’ newest French eatery

People who like eating traditional French cuisine should schedule a visit to the recently-opened second Le Vendome restaurant in Vientiane.

The spacious restaurant offers a French-style atmosphere both inside and out, as well as an excellent menu with a large choice of dishes at affordable prices. French songs and music add to the soothing atmosphere and this comfortable eatery offers a very pleasant ambience.

AnousithSivilay hopes the exciting new restaurant will encourage more people to try French food.

The restaurant is owned and managed by AnousithSivilay, 27, and opened in July in Donpamai village, Sisattanak district.

It follows on from the longstanding success of the original Le Vendome restaurant located near Inpeng Temple in Chanthabouly district, which has long been a favourite among local residents and visitors.

Both restaurants offer traditional French food which is enjoyed by both Lao and foreign diners.
The first restaurant opened in 1992 and is owned by the French grandfather of Anousith’s wife.

Anousith and his wife Manida decided to open a second branch of Le Vendome after they got married, as Anousith wanted to continue the successful business.

Manida had grown up in the restaurant business and enjoyed cooking while Anousith also liked working in the hospitality sector.

So together they opened Le Vendome 2 in Donpamai village. Since its opening the restaurant has proved popular with the expat community and Lao diners and offers the same comprehensive menu that has been so successful at the first bistro.
The restaurant serves an enticingly wide range of dishes including salads, pasta, soufflés, steaks, pizza and desserts as well as traditional French bistro food.
The restaurant is open from Monday to Friday from 11am-2pm, and from 5:30-10 pm.

It’s popular for its lunchtime specials on weekdays, with 30 set meals prepared each day from 11am-2pm.
The lunch set costing 24,000 kip includes soup and a main course while the larger meal for 48,000 kip consists of salad, soup, a main course and dessert.
Customers can visit Le Vendome 2’s website for updates about the dishes to be served, as they change from day to day.
On Saturdays and Sundays the restaurant is open from 5:30-10pm.

Anousith said the two-storey restaurant can accommodate almost 100 people and serves authentic French food to either individuals or large groups. Eight chefs and assistants are on hand to prepare the top quality meals.

He is considering opening similar restaurants in other provinces to spread the popularity of French food.
If you haven’t already done so, seek out this very attractive restaurant, which has plenty of parking space. Ring 030 5134581 or 020 28188666 for more information.
