Model set sights on more fashion shows after school graduation

Ms Catharine West, a 19-year-old model who participated in the Lao Super Model 2017 event, has graduated from Panyathip International School.
Ms West is of British and Thai parentage and was born in Laos. She graduated from Year 12 Class B after spending two years at Panyathip International School.
Her parents, friends and relatives joined the graduation ceremony that was held at the Don Chan Palace hotel recently and congratulated her on her success.

How did you feel when you received your graduation certificate? 
I felt really proud of myself. Although I had my struggles, I pushed through and eventually I graduated. I felt relieved and happy at the same time.
How many people and friends came to your graduation ceremony?
A lot! Too many to count. I wouldn’t consider them friends, they are more like family to me.
After graduating from Panyathip International School, which college or university would you like to attend?
As of this moment, I can’t answer that question. I’m in no rush to go to college. I’ll see where life takes me and go from there.
What do you want to do after you graduate?
Work, of course! I’d like to make a living of my own, as well as travel the world. Explore cultures around the world and enjoy life to the fullest with no regrets. Life is short, so enjoy!
Do you want to be a fashion designer or work in the business, given your experience in the fashion world so far?
I’d like to work for a fashion company first and eventually work my way up.
How many fashion events did you attend after Lao Super Model 2017?
I’ve taken part in eight modelling events and been part of the Lao Super Model contest.
Which event did you enjoy the most?
I enjoyed Lao Fashion Week the most. I was chosen by a Filipino designer to showcase his final dress for that event. I was delighted to showcase his line and would like to thank him very much.
Do you have any plans to study fashion design to promote the Lao fashion industry?
At the moment, I don’t have any plans other than just working with Lao Super Model.
Did you perform in Alexandra’s music video for the song Simply Beautiful to promote Visit Laos Year 2018?
I didn’t perform, I was just part of the cast of the music video. I acted as a tourist in Laos, exploring nature and visiting iconic places in the country.
Do you like Lao culture?
I basically grew up in Laos!  I love the culture.
